Kai Yang
About me
Kai Yang received the Ph.D. degree from Columbia University, USA. He has held various prestigious positions, including Technical Staff Member at Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent, USA. Since 2011, he has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University.
Currently, he is a Tenured Professor at Tongji University, Shanghai, China.
He holds over 20 patents and has been extensively published in Top AI conferences and leading IEEE journals and conferences.
His current research interests encompass AI+Networking, AI for Time Series, Nested Optimization and Wireless Sensing and Communications.
He has also served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for numerous AI and IEEE conferences.
He has received several prestigious awards, including the Eliahu Jury Award from Columbia University,
the Bell Laboratories Teamwork Award, and the Best Paper Honorable Mention Award for time series workshop of IJCAI 2023.
From 2012 to 2014, he was the Vice-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Multimedia Communications Technical Committee.
Additionally, he has held leadership roles such as Demo/Poster Co-Chair for IEEE INFOCOM,
Symposium Co-Chair for IEEE GLOBECOM, and Workshop Co-Chair for IEEE ICME.

July 2025: Prof. Yang was invited to deliver a talk at Second Conference on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence organized by Operations Research Society of China and Great Bay University.
June 2025: One paper "Argus: Federated Non-convex Bilevel Learning over 6G Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network" has been accepted to IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering!
May 2025: One paper "DTZO: Distributed Trilevel Zeroth Order Learning with Provable Non-Asymptotic Convergence" was accepted to the ICML 2025!
April 2025: One paper "Machine Learning Model Trading with Verification under Information Asymmetry" has been accepted for publication in IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking!
April 2025: One paper "PR-Attack: Coordinated Prompt-RAG Attacks on Retrieval-Augmented Generation in Large Language Models via Bilevel Optimization" was accepted for publication in SIGIR 25, which is one of the top conferences in the field of information retrieval!
March 2025: Two Master's students have graduated! Mr. Xiong will be joining Meituan as a software engineer. Mr. Chen will be joining State Grid Corporation of China as a reseach engineer.
March 2025: Mr. Chen published two papers at AAAI 2024 and 2025. In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, he was honored with the National Scholarship for Graduate Students, which is granted to only the top 5% of all graduating master’s students nationwide in 2024-2025.
My Master's student, Mr. Yancheng Huang, has received a fully funded PhD offer from the Department of CSE at Michigan State University, where he will be working with my former student, Prof. Sijia Liu. Congratulations to Mr. Huang. Wishing you all the best on this exciting new journey!

June 2024: Two PhD students have graduated! Dr. Dou will be joining Ant Finance as a reseach scientist. Dr. Ma will be joining Xingjiang University as a tenture track assistant professor.
